Ghost of Christmas Past Lantern
Movable lantern for the Ghost of Christmas Past for A Christmas Carol at Commonwealth Shakespeare Company, including removable lantern, and attatchment point for cafe lights.
This prop needed to be self powered, easily moveable, have a removable lantern, and have a way for a large strand of cafe lights cominng from a batton to be attacheed to it.
I was able to accommodate these needs by building a base out of plywood, to which I attached smart casters, and, using threaded steel pipe and flanges. I created a platform with a lip just large enough for the lantern to sit in so it wouldn’t fall when rolling around the stage. The lantern was fitted with a battery powered candle as its lightsource. I added a small hook so that the strand of lights coulld be attached from the batten and pulled onstage when needed. I then painted it to fit the aesthetic of the show.
